Our Mission

Our vision at Blue Latitudes is to find silver linings in our oceans at the intersection of industry and the environment.

We unite science, policy, and communications to create innovative solutions for the complex ecological challenges associated with offshore industry.

Company Profile

Blue Latitudes, founded in 2015 by Emily Hazelwood and Amber Sparks, is a certified women-owned marine environmental consulting firm. In 2018, Emily and Amber were listed on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in the energy sector for their efforts with Blue Latitudes to develop sustainable, creative, and cost-effective solutions for the environmental issues that surround the offshore energy industry.

Key examples of our work include re-purposing offshore infrastructure as artificial reefs, utilizing routine ROV maintenance surveys and designed targeted ROV studies on offshore infrastructure to develop complex biological baselines, and analyzing fisheries activity around offshore infrastructure to better understand the interaction between ocean users. Additionally, Blue Latitudes led the development of FishLAT (Fisheries Location Assessment Technology), a web-based platform that helps regulators, fisheries managers, and energy industry stakeholders predict how the site-specific removal, reefing or installation of an offshore energy structure will impact fisheries.

We combine our industry expertise with research-based insights and technical tools to assess offshore infrastructure on a case-by-case basis to determine the best environmental, economic, and socially responsible outcomes available.
